The Story of FND
More than two decades ago, a vision was born: to create a stage where young dancers could express their talent and share their passion for dance.
Over the past 27 years, Festival Norte Dança has become a meeting point for young talents, teachers, and dance schools.
In 2026, a new chapter begins: the FND International Dance Competition is born — an international competition created to elevate the artistic experience and open new opportunities for dancers.
Competition Categories
The FND International Dance Competition offers a wide range of categories and formats, designed for different ages, technical levels, and participation styles.
Performances include solos, duos, trios, and groups, covering diverse dance styles within a framework of rigor, fairness, and artistic excellence.

Jury Member
Benvindo Fonseca is a renowned choreographer and former principal dancer of the Gulbenkian Ballet, with a strong international training background in Lisbon, New York, London, and Paris.
His career is distinguished by collaborations with some of the most prestigious contemporary choreographers and by an artistic path marked by versatility, depth, and a unique identity.
